The Faculty of Law Journal (FLJ), Rivers State University, is the official scholarly journal of the Faculty of Law, Rivers State University, established to provide a credible platform for the publication and dissemination of high-quality legal research and scholarship. The Journal is conceived as a forum for rigorous intellectual engagement on contemporary legal issues affecting Nigeria and the wider global legal community. Through carefully researched and peer-reviewed publications, the Faculty of Law Journal seeks to contribute meaningfully to the development of legal knowledge, legal education, judicial reasoning, law reform and professional practice.
The mission of the Faculty of Law Journal is to contribute to the advancement of legal knowledge through the publication of high-quality, original, and well-researched scholarly works. The Journal seeks to provide a forum where academics, legal practitioners, researchers, and other scholars can examine emerging legal issues and contribute to the development of legal thought and practice.
The establishment of the Faculty of Law Journal is, in significant measure, a fulfilment of the vision of the current Dean of the Faculty of Law, Rivers State University, Prof. Grace O. Akolokwu. Under her leadership, the Journal has emerged as a tangible expression of the Faculty’s commitment to creating opportunities for legal academics, practitioners, researchers and emerging scholars to contribute to meaningful conversations within the legal profession and beyond. The creation of the Journal provides the Faculty with a dedicated scholarly platform through which ideas can be examined, debated and documented. It also strengthens the Faculty’s contribution to the advancement of legal education and research at Rivers State University and within the broader academic community.
